Looks Like Spring

I thought today would be the perfect day to finally do my sketch card and also have one last play with one of my favourite sets.  Looks Like Spring.  It's such a lovely set and I've really enjoyed using it in the last couple of years.  If you want to grab it you'll need to do it before the 31st.  Also it has the added bonus of being on the Bushfire Appeal List.

Hello everyone.  I've decided to try something different today and have a go at making a sketch, now I'm quite pleased with the result.  But I'd like you to have a go too.  So here's the sketch, email me a photo of your finished layout and I'll add it to this post.  :-) And I'll even give a little incentive for each participant. So please don't make me look like a goose, I'd love some people to have a go.  This one is a Scrapbooking Sketch, but tomorrow I'll put up a card sketch as well.

I'm Going To Miss...

These wonderful colours. I really am.  The 2009 Retirement list was released this morning, if you haven't already checked it out, go to the Promotions and Specials page and have a good look, some sets are even discounted!  YAY.  And place your order early so you don't miss out.  Especially the InColours, if you have the stamp pads, don't forget to pick up the reinkers just in case.

Also there will be some price rises in the next catalogue (which is understandable) so now's the time to pick up those items you really like and stock up, especially the paper which is also going.  If you love em, grab em.

Here's a quick card I made this morning using some of the retired items, the Afternoon Tea Paper (from the Summer Mini and still available until the end of the month) the green is Wild Wasabi and the Stamp Set I used is Petals and Paisley, one of my favourites that is going.

Firstly I want to apologise for being so slack with my blog posts, I've had a very busy week here with workshops, classes and school stuff.  I finally have a day off today, which I'm going to spend sorting and making stuff for the Scrapbooking Fundraiser next weekend.  But I thought I'd spend a couple of minutes updating my blog, so you didn't think I'd fallen off the face of the earth.  This is just a quick card I whipped up last night for a Card Swap I'm in.  (If anyone is interested in swapping or wanting to know what it is email me on mail@kareninks.com and I'll send you all the relevant details).


I really like the pretty colours in this card.  Oh and the ovals I cut out on th Cricut.  So very handy lol.  

Bushfire Appeal

Yesterday I was lucky enough to get a Cricut!  I know I'm a bit slow on the bandwagon, but oh boy, have I been having fun.  I can't believe I went so long with out one. So much fun.  Anway, here's a quick Carousel Note card I did today.  I'm quite pleased with it

Thursday night we had another Inklings cyberstamp, these are always so much fun and really make me think outside my normal box.  I've only managed to do 1 challenge, I hate it when that pesky thing called life get's in the way of the really important stuff like crafting....

And if you're wondering what the Inklings are...it's my wonderful upline Jayne Mercer's fantastic team.  :-D

Anyway, I'm proud of this card, I really really like it for some reason.  This was a colour challenge, Chocolate Chip, Cameo Coral, Groovy Guava and Pretty In Pink, not really the easiest colours to go together but I think I pulled of the heist rather well

I have a Stamp-A-Stack class on Wednesday so this morning, with no interruptions around, I sat down to design the cards, which I think turned out pretty well.    Now to just cut all the cardstock up lol.   And if you're coming to my class I hope you like them lol.

I also wanted to say a big welcome to all those that have followed the link from my YouTube account, I really hope you like my designs and have found some inspiration. 



Elite Challenges

I haven't  done any Elite Challenges in a while, but had the sudden inspiration to complete a couple over the weekend.  The first challenge was a colour challenge, Groovy Guava, Lovely Lilac and Tempting Turquoise, not the easiest colours together lol, but I think I did ok.

The stamp set used here is Embrace Life, and it's growing on me more and more. 

The other challenge was a sketch challenge, the sketch was a design of a card from the SaleABrations catalogue.  I really like this sketch. 
Don't forget if you are stuck for inspiration, pull out your catty's or a magazine and have a look at the card designs, you never know when a colour combo or layout will catch your eye. 

Polka Dot Punches

I had to make another card with this set, it's so pretty and different, this time I went romantic.  Well it is Valentines Day soon, I guess I need to hide this card now and hope DH doesn't read my blog lol. 

I really enjoyed doing this one, and I found a fantastic tutorial on Splitcoast for doing the scalloped squares using the scallop punch.  I quite like this one, I think the colours just pop!

I had so much fun making this card today.  I love the Polka Dot Punches set.  I even tried to step out of my box with the colours.  Although I'm not too sure how well I succeded with that.

Yes a new blog!  I've been working on something quietly for the last couple of days .  I've decided to put up a technique blog.  I'm starting with some simple beginner stamping techniques, it's always helpful for a newbie to have a guide to start with, and I'm slowly going to add more, so please go check it out and let me know what you think.
Cyberstamp and New Contact Details

Last night the Inklings had a Cyberstamp, just the thing for a quiet Saturday night.  And I managed to complete 2 of the challenges, I'm going to work on the 3rd today.  The first one was to make a Valentines Day Card.  Which I loved doing, but I also realised that I have no heart stamps at all!  How on earth did I do that?  I might have to rectify that tragic situation very soon lol.

The 2nd challenge was a CASE challenge, basically we had to use the design of the card from the bottom of page 51 of the Idea Book and Catalogue, and using designer paper and no stamping create 2 cards.  Here are my efforts.  
 

And I'll be working on Challenge 3 today so will probably add that tomorrow.  :-)

I've had so much fun catching up on my scrapbooking this week.  It's been awesome and I really have a long way to go lol, I've been very neglectful of my layouts since getting back into cardmaking, it's very much taken precedence over everything else.  I've even decided to try and do the Project 365 from Creating Keepsakes.  Which is you take a photo a day basically for the year, although I'm going to do a layout a week.  Now to just remember to do it. 

Anyway, I love the colours in this layout, this is using the new Ginger Blossom paper from the Summer Mini.  And the Embrace Life set. 


And although you can't see it very well with the photography the colours are actually Ruby Red and River Rock.  Which go fabulously together I think.

I can't believe how much scrapbooking I've done in the last 2 days, I'm very proud of myself lol, and no doubt there will be lot's of scrapbookng posts in the coming week.  Here's a quick layout of myself and my children.  I don't often have good photos of myself but I love this one my husband took.  So far nearly everyone has a copy

I've used the wonderful Afternoon Tea papers here, so pretty and elegant.  I also managed to drag out my sizzix to cut the letters out for the title.  I'd forgotten how easy that was to use.  Hope you like it. 
Scrapbooking

Well, I have a new printer, and it prints photos really really well, so can you guess what I was doing on the weekend?  What I love is having the freedom to size my photos then print, and no more mucking around popping down to get them printed.  Especially  if I have the urge to scrapbook at 4pm on a Sunday and I have to use those certain photos, I can yay!  Anyway, here's a quick 2 page layout I did, and when I say quick I mean quick, I am such a simple scrapbooker, I like clean lines, pretty paper and not a lot of embellishments.  I'm happy with that style though   and after scrapbooking for nearly 9 years, I'm very comfortable with it.

The paper I used here is Bali Breeze, it's so bright and colourful, and personally I think it looks awesome with black and white photos.  I've been working in  8x8 a lot lately, it's a nice size.  But I have a half finished double 12x12 layout on my desk at the moment, with any luck I'll have that finished today.  My goal is to do more scrapbooking this year and to fill my gallery with lovely samples for you all to look at.

I hope everyone had a very Merry Christmas.  We had a very relaxing one with some yummy food and wonderful company.  Although if I never have to put another Lego house together it'll be too soon.  I did receive a wonderful iPod docking station which makes listening to my music while stamping so much nicer.  And it also gives me a great excuse to hibernate from the rest of the household for a while. 

And while hibernating, I decided that after a week of not making anything it was time to put to stamp to paper and come up with something.   This was just a quick and easy card using some of the new Summer Mini stamps, I've used the Dots Jumbo Roller and a stamp from the Say It With Scallops Set.  This is a versatile set that coordinates with the Square Scallop Punch.  And ya gotta love pink and black together lol.
